The Five of Cups represents a feeling of loss, lack of fulfillment, or falling short of a goal. The card represents a feeling of emptiness, guilt and despair.The figure portrayed in the card focuses her attention on her loss--the three cups that have spilled into the water. In her grief she is blind to the two full cups being offered to her. This card depicts a pessimistic attitude and wasting energy on negative emotions. There is a focus on that which is not very important and an inability to let go of the past in order to move forward. It is important to forgive, especially yourself, pick up the remaining cups, and move ahead in your journey.
